We are having real issues with our Facebook & Instagram accounts. This is due to a perceived breaking of rules - the abbreviation for 'Cerebral Palsy' (CP) was banned earlier this year by Meta due to its association with illegal activity. The charity uses the CP abbreviation in its name, which means our posts, content and hashtags use this abbreviation too.
On Friday evening, access was banned altogether. Access has now been regained, but it is limited. We have tried to change the page name to 'Cerebral Palsy Teens' as a starting point, but we are unable to do this due to 'limited account permissions' following being banned.
Yesterday, we received further restrictions. We transferred administrative control over to another account as told to by Facebook, but this hasn't altered anything due to the page always having to be connected to its ‘business creator’, i.e. the account that setup the page in the first place!
We are now very much stuck for options. The Facebook & Instagram accounts are now restricted for a year with no right of appeal and no ability to talk to a human!
CP is widely used as an abbreviation for Cerebral Palsy - we cannot comprehend how & why we’ve reached a point where a computer decision has essentially took us offline.
We will not be posting on Facebook or Instagram for the foreseeable whilst we try to resolve the issue and to try and prevent permanent deletion.
In the meantime, PLEASE keep checking the website for events & updates, as well as on X (formerly Twitter) - this is going to have to be our main means of communication whilst ever we are in ‘Meta jail’!
Thank you for your support.
