After 19 months, and what looked like a permanent removal and ban last month, we are delighted to say that our Facebook & Instagram pages have been fully restored and reinstated by Meta.
Thankfully, word spread about our permanent ban and loosing everything, and through an incredible network of supporters, we were able to connect directly with Meta. Thanks to their help, our platforms have now been fully reinstated and restored!
We are unsure which route reached Meta, or if it was the power of a great collective effort, but we would like to give special thank yous to the following:
Toby Perkins MP for Chesterfield who contacted a contact Meta.
Millie Edwards of The Iris Project who contacted a contact Meta after having similar problems for their charity in the past.
Alastair M who contacted a contact at Meta. Alastair worked for Sheffield Children's Hospital on their press and communications team back in 2013 when CP Teens UK was founded - he covered the story of Ellie and the charity, which ended up on BBC local news and radio.
Elaine Shipley of Fenti Marketing who sent a very helpful email packed with information and suggestions.
Rachel Miller & Stephen Miller MBE, PLY who contacted a contact at Meta.
Amanda Richardson & Pilar Cloud - two of the charity's colleagues who run the wonderful charity Action Cerebral Palsy. Amanda & Pilar have always supported CP Teens UK, as well as founder, Ellie. Amanda contacted a contact at the BBC - as a result, pieces were recorded for BBC News, radio and online. The BBC felt that it would be very likely that Meta would respond to them and the coverage. We are unsure now whether it will air, but if it does, it will obviously now have a positive ending!
A big thank you to the BBC regardless of whether it airs or not - we believe that they also contacted Meta. Also, for the time and resources that they put into filming and recording.
Meta has now changed our name on Facebook and Instagram to 'Cerebral Palsy Teens UK'.
Meta has also verified us, so you will now see we have a blue tick on Facebook and Instagram.
From now on, the charity will use the name Cerebral Palsy Teens UK on Facebook and Instagram to avoid any confusion with unrelated or inappropriate content linked to our abbreviation. The charity will, of course, continue to use its official name - including the abbreviation - everywhere else.
We are so grateful for all of the support, backing and fighting on behalf of CP Teens UK from so many people. We honestly thought there was no way to fight this one, let alone solve and win it.
